GUYANA - YOUNG WOMEN'S LEADERSHIP FUND

Scholarship Requirements

The Young Women’s Leadership Fund seeks to provide scholarships to high school graduates in Guyana who are girls, demonstrate leadership potential and a passion for volunteerism and community work, and preferably will be the first generation in their family to attend the University of Guyana.

Eligibility

To be considered for the GGR Foundation Young Women’s Leadership Fund Scholarship, you

  • Must be a Secondary school graduate entering the first year of full time of undergraduate study at the University in Guyana School of Nursing for the upcoming academic year.
  • Must present proof of  acceptance. 
  • Must be a Guyanese Citizen
  • Must demonstrate leadership potential and passion for volunteerism, technology or community work.
Award
  • Three (3)  scholarships will be awarded.
  • If selected as a recipient, the student will receive the equivalent of USD $500.
  • Awards are not renewable.
  • Scholarships are for freshman (1st year) undergraduate students only.
Deadline

The application deadline is November 28 2025. Winners will be notified via email on December 5, 2025.

Required Documents
    • A completed online application via the link below.
    • CSEC results demonstrate 5 CSEC passes.
    • A 250-word inspirational essay titled “Why I Am Pursuing Nursing”, in which you will talk about your leadership, volunteer, or community work; one valuable lesson you have learned; what receiving this scholarship will mean for you, and how you would like to make an impact in the world.
    • A recommendation from one of your Secondary school teachers or a leader in your community that talks about your leadership work and or potential.
    • A brightly lit recent photo of yourself. The photo can be taken with a cell phone; No selfies, please.

    The scholarship may be used to purchase your supplies and/or to cover any other college-related expenses.
